🏫 About the University of Colorado Boulder
The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is a leading public research university known for its commitment to sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global impact. With a strong emphasis on environmental research and social science, CU Boulder plays a pivotal role in addressing climate challenges through innovative projects and partnerships.
In the LostToClimate Research Project, CU Boulder contributes deep expertise in understanding how climate change affects human populations, particularly through migration and community transformation.
The CU team in LostToClimate consists of Lori Hunter. Lori is Professor of Sociology, the Director of the Institute of Behavioral Science, and an Affiliate of the CU Population Center. She is a globally recognised scholar whose work bridges sociology, environmental science, and public policy. Her research focuses on the intersections between climate change, migration, and human well-being, especially in vulnerable rural communities across the Global South and the United States.
🔗 Role in LostToClimate
In the LostToClimate project, Lori brings a critical human dimension to climate research. Her work helps illuminate: 1) How environmental stressors drive migration, 2) The social, health, and community consequences of climate change, and 3) Strategies for resilient rural development in the face of ecological disruption. Her interdisciplinary approach ensures that the project not only tracks environmental loss but also understands the human stories and systemic inequalities behind such loss, as well as the social changes that follow.
