Interdisciplinarity

The project spans the physical sciences, life sciences, and social sciences and humanities. Through a transdisciplinary design, the project integrates these disciplines using ethnographic data collection methods and prioritises knowledge co-production approaches, as described in the methodological section. Here, ‘transdisciplinary’ refers to the integration of disciplines to create a holistic approach that transcends traditional boundaries. Stated differently, the focus is on collaboration across disciplines and with non-academic stakeholders to solve real-world problems.

The project team covers an array of skills and disciplinary perspectives: adaptation (Sherilee Harper), non-economic losses and damages (Daniel Puig), climate modelling (Sebastian Mernild), climate risks and place attachment (Rico Kongsager), cultural heritage (Dag Avango), ecosystem and landscape services (Nora Fagerholm), human ecology (Ragnheiður Bogadóttir), Indigenous Knowledges (Igah Sanguya), resource management (Tee Lim), Indigenous Peoples’ rights (Tyanna Steinwand), human nutrition (Amy Caughey), health systems (Susan Chatwood), migration and livelihoods (Lori Hunter), history (Tráin Nónklett), physical geography (Gunhild Rosqvist), community development (Matthias Kokorsch), cultural landscapes (Kyle Hearn), engagement of Indigenous Peoples (Parnuna Dahl), and rural sociology (Guangqing Chi).
